Instructor - Adrian Jervis (15th dan)

I started training in Judo at the age of seven, and a few years later also took up Jujutsu. In moving to study at Nottingham University in 1999 I discovered Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and began training first under Richie Blackmore, a student of Shihan Keith Porter. After two years, Shihan Ilja Hoffman took over the class. I continued to train regularly with Ilja when he founded the Bujinkan Nottingham dojo. During this time I gained my 1st dan from Noguchi Sensei and Nagato Sensei, whilst training at the Honbu dojo in Japan.

In 2008 I moved to Manchester and began regularly training under Shihan Brian Duckers (15th dan) at the Bujinkan Wirral Dojo. I was awarded my fifth dan by Soke Masaaki Hatsumi during a trip to Japan with Brian and Ilja, and so gained my Shidoshi (teacher’s) license. While training at the honbu dojo in April 2013 I was recommended for my 10th dan by Nagato Sensei, Noguchi Sensei and Brian Sensei. In November, 2019 I was awarded my 15th dan on recommendation from Brian.
